I hate spam. But the cunning of some spammers interests me and this one from tinywww.info falls into that category.
I got an email from one of my meetup groups as follows:
********************************************************************
subject: Maya has an idea for The Nashville Web Design Meetup Group
Maya’s idea:
“Great savings just about missed out on.”
I had been wondering around on the net and was shown an amazing savings for Taco Bell. At first I didn’t believe it was really going to work but I said I’d check it out anyway. I instantly got the coupon and went to Taco Bell and the clerk at the counter told me that a lot of people had been bringing in this deal and also asked me the website I got it from lol. (Found it on http://tinywww.info/r1x2k3y0zt) I just came home five minutes ago and while i was trying out my new things it hit me I’ll post this for you guys on here!
This is a one time special offer that you can redeem for the great savings. It works just like having a coupon cut out of a magazine. Its honestly one of the best deals I’ve seen in a long time and I’m glad I didn’t skip it due to my unbelieving. Check it out for yourself and get an early holiday!

It’s suspicious because I don’t expect to get an email about a Taco Bell coupon from my Web Design Meetup group. Then I see that Maya joined the group only minutes before sending this. The domain name is also sneaky. tinyurl is a well know url shortener so the spammer played upon that. The domain name in question was recently registered and is under anonymous whois protection.
Bottom line, never click a link if you don’t have a good idea where it’s taking you. If some brave soul wants to tell me where it goes, post your comment here. I’m guessing it’ll try to install something bad on your machine.
