Have you noticed that Google’s now displaying a small blue arrow next to the top result of the Search Engine Results Page?
So why is the arrow showing up on Google, how did it get there and what’s the arrow do?Google seems to be testing keyboard shortcuts with the new blue arrow. When you see the blue arrow, hit your down arrow key on your keyboard and the arrow will move to the next search result. You can select the result next to the arrow by pressing your enter key on your keyboard.
It’s a nice feature for people like me that prefer to use keyboard short cuts when they’re user friendly. The Google blue arrow is certainly user friendly to me.
On the other hand, it’s not intuitive unless you already have the answer to “what’s the blue arrow on Google do?” If you don’t know it’s a shortcut, it’s simply another little bonus to any web page that’s got a 1st position rank on the world’s largest search engine.
Since Google SERPs sometime have PPC at the top, Adwords gets the blue arrow as the starting point. If there’s no AdWords at the top of the main SERPS, the arrow will start at the top organic result and you can move it down thru the AdWords on the right column.
